Luminescence studies of europium doped yttrium oxide nano phosphor

Abstract: a b s t r a c tLuminescence exhibiting europium doped yttrium oxide (Y 2 O 3 :Eu 3+ ) phosphor was prepared by solution combustion method, using disodium ethylene diamine tetra acetic acid (EDTA-Na 2 ) as fuel at ∼350 • C. Powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) pattern of Y 2 O 3 :Eu 3+ revealed the cubic crystalline phase. The morphology of the samples was studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and was foamy, fluffy and porous in nature. Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) revealed prominent abso… Show more

“…TL glow curves of the g-irradiated Y 2 O 3 thin films were recorded in the temperature range of 350e700 K at a heating rate of 5 K s À1 using a homemade TL set up and the substrates readings were omitted. The homemade TL set up has inbuilt a small metallic plate as heating strip, temperature programmer, photomultiplier tube (RCA 931B) and interfaced with a multimeter recorder (Rishicom) [27]. Fig.…”

“…High luminescence efficiency, long term thermal stability, high mechanical resistance, very good refractory properties, and chemical stability are interesting properties of Y 2 O 3 :Ln 3+ [5]. Among them nano-Y 2 O 3 :Eu 3+ has a great interest for application not only in the field emission display [6] and security printing [7] for electroluminescence [8], but also in biomedicine [9]. Nanoparticles synthesized by different methods show variation in their size, shape, and optical properties.…”
