“…Glass samples with greater values of Ω 2 and Ω 4 but lower values of Ω 6 are regarded as good hosts as they can produce a high luminescence intensity ratio [62]. The obtained intensity parameters of our glass samples followed the trend Ω 4 > Ω 6 > Ω 2 , which agrees with referenced reports [16, 59, 63]. Various trends for the J–O intensity parameters in different Sm 3+ ‐doped glass compositions have been reported previously and are presented in Table 5.…”

“…For the presented glass system, Ω2$$ {\Omega}_2 $$ is smallest for sample BPbSrWSm 1.5 and largest for sample BPbSrWSm 2.0 . The obtained values of Ω2$$ {\Omega}_2 $$ of our studied glass were higher than tellurium–phosphate [16, 55], calcium–borate [29], zinc‐phosphate [56], alumino–borate [9], and zinc–tellurite [3]. This shows that the studied glass had higher covalency of the Sm–O bond and stronger asymmetry around the Sm 3+ ion site.…”
