“…It points towards periglacial processes, like solifluction, occurring during the Late Glacial climatic deteriorations and causing the reworking of these sediments. Similar OSL ages were obtained on loess that has been reworked by solifluction at other sites in southern Germany (Lang et al, 1998). Reworking of the loess is further indicated by the occurrence of gravel-sized limestone and quartz grains in the sediment.…”

“…Techniques for polymineral fine-grain fractions from such erosion- derived sediments were further developed and are now viewed as routine techniques Wagner, 1996, 1997). The first optical dating of solifluction layers was reported by Lang et al (1998) using the polymineral fine-grain fraction of the sediments. The procedures used for sample preparation, luminescence measurement, equivalent dose (D E ), and dose rate determination, and age calculation were reported in detail by .…”

“…In many colluvial environments, however, this is not the case, because reworking of older colluvial sediments occurs. The time of reworking can, however, be estimated by optical dating techniques (Aitken, 1998;Lang et al, 1998). Lang and Hönscheidt (1999) have developed a cascade model of colluvium formation ( Figure 3b).…”

“…Therefore, the Natural Normalization (NN) method was used in order to correct the OSL sensitivity variations of the grains and to avoid significant age underestimation (Stokes 1999). In some samples, paleodose values were obtained using the Single Aliquot Regeneration (SAR) method, which uses repeated measurements on a single sample (Lang et al 1998). Using these concentrations and Bell's equations (Aitken 1998), we determined the annual dose-rate of each sample, which is also listed in Tables I and II. The cosmic ray contribution was virtually calculated for the study area (Engenheiro Sérgio Motta Dam at Porto Primavera), and a value of 174.22 μGy/yr was found (Sallun et al 2007c) using the Prescott and Stephan (1982) protocol.…”
