Lubrication characteristics of ball–cylinder pair in eccentric ball piston pumps

Abstract: Ball–cylinder pair is the key friction pair of eccentric ball piston pumps. The reliability of ball–cylinder pair is significant to the performance of ball piston pump. The amended point contact elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) model of ball–cylinder pair is developed in this paper. Non-Newtonian behavior of lubricants and slide-roll feature of ball–cylinder pair are considered. Pressure distribution and film profile of ball–cylinder pair are calculated. The characteristics of friction and lubrication are … Show more

“…Gao et al 10 deduced the relationship between the number of ball pistons and pump flow pulsation based on the structure of eccentric ball piston pump, and analyzed the influence of ball piston number on outlet flow fluctuation and noise when the eccentricity is a constant. Zhao et al 11 studied the lubrication characteristics of the ball-cylinder pair in eccentric ball piston pump, and the modified point contact elasto-hydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) model of the ball-cylinder pair was developed. The friction and lubrication characteristics of the ball-cylinder pair are calculated and analyzed, and some experimental verification was given out.…”
