<title>Virtual reality and virtual bodies</title>

Abstract: There are many ways to produce the sense of 'presence' or telepresence in the user of virtual reality. For example attempting to increase the realism of the visual environment is a commonly accepted strategy. In contrast, this paper explores a way for the user to feel present in an unrealistic virtual body. It investigates an unusual approach, proprioceptive illusions.
