Abstract. Recently, Kim and Park have found an infinite family of graphs whose squares are not chromatic-choosable. Xuding Zhu asked whether there is some k such that all kth power graphs are chromatic-choosable. We answer this question in the negative: we show that there is a positive constant c such that for any k there is a family of graphs G with χ(G k ) unbounded and χ (G k ) ≥ cχ(G k ) log χ(G k ). We also provide an upper bound, χ (G k ) < χ(G k ) 3 for k > 1.

Increasing crop production, while maintaining sustainability, is a priority for agricultural development projects, particularly in developing countries. This study investigated the factors contributing to the effectiveness of agricultural development projects in improving the sustainability of cropping systems in a small upland watershed in south-west China. This involved a review of recent related projects and detailed evaluation of one project: the SHASEA Project. Farmers’ perceptions of several agricultural technologies are discussed, along with factors contributing to farmers’ adoption of these technologies. Local, national and international institutions need to adopt several strategies to improve project effectiveness and agro-environmental sustainability

Abstract. A set of vectors of equal norm in C d represents equiangular lines if the magnitudes of the inner product of every pair of distinct vectors in the set are equal. The maximum size of such a set is d 2 , and it is conjectured that sets of this maximum size exist in C d for every d ≥ 2. We describe a new construction for maximum-sized sets of equiangular lines, exposing a previously unrecognized connection with Hadamard matrices. The construction produces a maximum-sized set of equiangular lines in dimensions 2, 3 and 8.
