Abstract: In this paper, a review is given on the principles of optical fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors and their applications as strain sensors. Since the discovery of photosensitivity in optical fibers there has been great interest in the fabrication of Fiber Bragg Gratings within the core of a fiber.
