<title>SRD-based multistage circuit for shaping picosecond pulses</title>

Abstract: The paper presents an idea together with its experimental realisation of shaping step pulses with picosecond transition time. Shaping circuit is built from several stages, each of them containing Step Recovery Diode (SRD). Time-domain measurement illustrate achieved results. Computer simulation is shown to be useful to predict circuit behaviour .

“…6. Multistage shaping circuit of this structure has already been shown [9] to deliver steep-edge pulses with minimized irregularities. Let us briefly remind: step recovery diodes are forwardly biased by (negative) dc voltages (U 1 , U 2 , U 3 respectively) and are switched off by input pulse (u 5 ) generated by multistable multivibrator (and inverted by the buffer) with transition time approximately 2 ns.…”
