<title>Optical measuring systems help to find constructional weak spots: recognizing relative deformations</title>

Abstract

Optical measuring systems, such as holographic interferometry, speckle interferometry and speckle correlation make it possible to achieve the graphic, 3-dimensional surface area and very accurate measurement of deformations and vibration amplitudes. These systems are suitable tools for the optimising of construction features. OPTIMISING OF CONSTRUCTIONSThe spectrum of uses ranges from static loading up to the examining of dynamic processes, e.g. vibration analyses.The following examples should give an insight into what is possible with this system, and what information it could provide the constructor with about his construction part.Using the example of an industrial machine, the tracing of a structural weak spot should be described. In the sewing of thin materials at maximum speed, faulty stitches were detected at regular intervals.
