<title>Optical implementation of a single-layer finite impulse response neural network</title>

Abstract: This paper demonstrates a space integrating optical implementation of a single-layer FJRNN. A scrolling spatial light modulator (SLM) is used for representing the spatio-temporal input plane, while the weights are implemented by the adaptive grating formation in a photorefractive (PR) crystal. Differential hterodyning is used for low-noise bipolar output detection and an active stabilization technique using a lock-in amplifier and a piezo-electric actuator is adopted for long term interferometric stability.
