<title>Nonclassical-light generation in a photonic-band-gap nonlinear planar waveguide</title>

Abstract: Optical parametric process occurring in a photonic band-gap planar waveguide is studied from the point of view of nonclassical-light generation. Nonlinearly interacting optical fields are described by the generalized superposition of coherent signals and noise using the method of operator linear corrections to a classical strong solution. Scattered backward-propagating fields are taken into account. Squeezed light as well as light with sub-Poissonian statistics can be obtained in two-mode fields under the spec… Show more

“…Suitable conditions for generation of light with subPoissonian photon-number statistics are similar to those needed for observation of squeezed light and analyzed in detail in the report. This similarity has been elucidated in detail in [45,46] for three-mode interaction. It allows to use directly the results obtained for squeezed light also in the analysis of suitable conditions for the generation of light with sub-Poissonian photon-number statistics.…”

“…Especially Bragg-reflection waveguides offer wide possibilities in this direction [34,35]. Also scattering on a periodic corrugation gives an additional term to nonlinear phase-matching conditions [36][37][38]. For this reason we need a tool that allows us to reach nonlinear phase matching conditions for an arbitrary photonic structure.…”
