Focusing on positioning moving targets, the research on portable Through-Wall Radar (TWR) is presented. The TWR is based on Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) transmitting signal owing to its inherent advantages such as penetrating ability, high resolution, and immunity to multipath, and simple architecture. On the basis of presented transmitting signal, system diagram, and equivalent time sample, one TWR prototype is presented and deployed to collect echo. Combined with the echo model developed, the feasible algorithms for signal de-noising (based on continuous wavelet transform) and ranging (based on correlation) in time domain are researched with negligible ranging error. And then, the Look-Up Table (LUT) technology is introduced into 2-D positioning, but it make the phenomenon of target blur worse, the reason and remedy are presented. Further more, the problem of false targets is researched as the system drawback, with resolution following.
