Abstract:The image modulation and noise characteristics of monochrome cathode ray tube (CRT) displays are described using a simple physical model. The model includes digital-to-analog converter, the video amplifier, electron gun, phosphor and faceplate. Expressions are derived for both the signal modulation transfer function (MTF) and noise power spectrum in the terms of the subsystem characteristics.
