<title>3D speckle-shift hologram and its storage capacity</title>

Abstract: Here a method for data storage by means of multiplexing 3-D holograms is considered. The method consists in shifting the recording material with respect to a reference speckle wave. The experimental data on the dependence of the diffraction efficiency of the hologram with respect to the shift is presented. The general scheme of data storage in 3D-speckle shift hologram is considered and presented. It's shown that this kind of hologram substantially outperforms all other types for the number of cells (pixels) i… Show more

“…Selectivity is a significant feature of a holographic storage system, because it affects both, system tolerances and interactions among multiplexed holograms. As mentioned above, we applied a coaxial shift multiplexing system with a random binary phase mask, in which shift selectivity is usually determined by the auto-correlation length of the speckle of the reference beam [13]. Now, we theoretically and experimentally examine the shift selectivity.…”

“…In this case the multiplex recording is based on a property ofthe shift selectivity ofa hologram recorded by using a speckle reference wave 25,26 According to this technique, the multiplexing of holograms is performed in the following way. The wave of the radiation scattered by object 1 is recorded with the help of a speckle reference wave formed by the light that has passed through a diffuser.…”

“…In the typical polymer HDDS implentation utilizing speckle multiplexing [19], each pixel is recorded as a (potentially large) collection of volume gratings. The pixels (the MP channels) of the system may be assumed independent and identically distributed (much like the scattering noise statistics which is the same for every channel).…”
