miR-145-5p Regulates the Proliferation, Migration and Invasion in Cervical Carcinoma by Targeting KLF5

Abstract: Objective: Cervical carcinoma (CC) is a serious threat to women's health and few effective therapeutic methods have been discovered. The purpose of this study is to explore the underlying mechanism of miR-145-5p in CC. Methods: Bioinformatics methods were employed to analyze the gene expression data of CC from TCGA database. qRT-PCR was used to detect the expression of miR-145-5p and KLF5 in CC cells, and Western blot was employed for the examination of KLF5 protein level. The targeted relationship between miR… Show more

“…Consistent with our results, miR-145-5p has been reported to be signi cantly down-regulated in the tissues of gastric cancer patients, and negatively correlated with the malignancy of gastric cancer [30]. At the same time, we also found that miR-145-5p is down-regulated in colorectal cancer, cervical cancer, prostate cancer and liver cancer, and may act as an inhibitor in the occurrence and development of tumors [31][32][33][34]. Our ndings demonstrated that circBVES serves as an oncogene by sponging miR-145-5p in GC and revealed the signi cance of interaction between circBVES and miR-145-5p in tumorigenesis and development of GC.…”

“…Many researches have previously shown miR-145-5p performs the oncogenic role in many of cancers. [26][27][28] In addition, in studies on head and neck cancers, miR-145-5p was lowly expressed in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) and inhibited LSCC progression by regulating Fascin Actin-Bundling Protein 1 (FSCN1) levels. 29 Similarly, miR-145-5p re-expression suppressed cell metastasis of tongue squamous cell carcinoma (TSCC) cells, and facilitated oxidative stress.…”

“…Then we identified that circGOLPH3 interacted with miR‐145‐5p, which was reduced in OSCC. Many researches have previously shown miR‐145‐5p performs the oncogenic role in many of cancers 26–28 . In addition, in studies on head and neck cancers, miR‐145‐5p was lowly expressed in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) and inhibited LSCC progression by regulating Fascin Actin‐Bundling Protein 1 (FSCN1) levels 29 .…”

“…miR‐217 targeted KLF5 and suppressed TNBC cell growth, migration, and invasion 74 . The tumor suppressor miR‐145‐5p targeted KLF5 and decreased the proliferation of gastric cancer 76 and cervical carcinoma cells 87,88 . The tumor suppressor miR‐152 also targets KLF5 in cervical cancer 89 .…”
