<b>A comparative experimental investigation of reinforced-concrete pipes under three-edge-bearing test: Spigot and Pocket and Ogee Joint pipes

Abstract: ABSTRACT. An experiment on the behavior of two types of circular reinforced concrete pipes under three-edge-bearing test is analyzed and discussed. Current study compares the strength of spigot-pocket (SPP) and ogee joint pipes (OJP). In the experimental analyses thirty-two pipes, nominal diameter 800 and 1200 mm, divided into two series of 16 pipes each, were tested. Each series was composed of 12 spigotpocket pipes (SPP) and 4 ogee joint pipes (OJP). Experimental results of the loading versus displacement cu… Show more

“…By applying the data in the Table 1 to equations ( 3), ( 11), ( 12), ( 13), ( 14) and ( 15), it is obtained the design values (DV) of the ultimate and service forces for the pipes with DN 800mm, respectively 70.647kN/m and 24.796kN/m, and for the pipes with DN 1200mm, 80.085kN/m and 27.050kN/m. Basic statistics of the experiments of Silva [8] and Silva et al [9] are presented in Table 2.…”

“…Basic statistics for the experiments of Silva [8] and Silva et al [9] are determined in this paper, such as mean and standard deviation of the ultimate force (P ult ) and service force (P ser ) for both samples (DN 800mm and DN 1200mm) with 16 elements each. From such data, it is possible to define confidence intervals (CI) for the means of P ult and P ser .…”
