LPLUNC1 stabilises PHB1 by counteracting TRIM21-mediated ubiquitination to inhibit NF-κB activity in nasopharyngeal carcinoma

Abstract: Long-palate, lung and nasal epithelium clone 1 (LPLUNC1) is a tumour suppressor gene in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), and low expression of LPLUNC1 is associated with poor prognosis. Our previous study showed that LPLUNC1 upregulates Prohibitin 1 (PHB1), a pleiotropic protein that functions as a tumour suppressor gene in various cancers. Low expression of PHB1 was also found to be associated with the poor prognosis of NPC patients. However, the mechanisms by which LPLUNC1 upregulates PHB1 and the potential r… Show more

“…FAM225A exerts a cancer-promoting role through functioning as a ceRNA and sponging miR-590-3p and miR-1275, causing higher expression of ITGB3 and activation of the FAK/PI3K/Akt pathway [139]. M6A regulates NPC cell proliferation [140,141].…”

“…Tripartite motif-containing protein 21 (TRIM21), a member of the family of tripartite motif (TRIM)-containing proteins, is a RING finger domain-containing E3 ubiquitin ligase that was first implicated in autoimmune diseases 20 . The dysregulation of TRIM21 contributes to the progression of human malignancies including breast cancer 21,22 . Our data provide compelling evidence that the degradation of SET7/9 by TRIM21 can be used to suppress breast cancer progression.…”
