“…Screws are the most commonly used fasteners in products manufactured using wood materials. In the construction of furniture, screws are frequently used for a variety of purposes, including connecting tops to tables, cabinets, and bases, attaching shelves to end members, framing cabinets, and installing hardware [12,13]. The rigidity of furniture and accessories in screw joints largely depends on the screw withdrawal resistance of the screws used in the connections and the wooden materials used in production.…”

“…Screw-type fasteners are used in not only joints but also handle, hinge and lock (Örs et al 1998). Studies related to joints with screws have been conducted with the technological development in wood composites and engineered wood since the strength design of furniture was de ned in the 1940s (Eckelman 1973;Smardzewski 2009;Uysal and Haviarova 2019). Such studies will continue to be conducted to enhance the strength of screw joints as long as the furniture is the greatest need of people's living spaces and new technological developments emerge in the eld.…”
