Low‐Temperature Flux Synthesis, Crystal Structure and Ce‐Doped Luminescence of the First Lutetium Diphosphate NH4LuP2O7

Abstract: The first lutetium diphosphate NH 4 LuP 2 O 7 has been prepared by a two-step, low-temperature self-flux synthesis in the presence of the F -anion, functioning as a mineralizer, which played a significant role in the synthetic process. The crystal structure has been characterized by single-crystal Xray diffraction. The title compound crystallizes in a monoclinic system of the space group P2 1 /c (No. 14), a = 7.651 (2)

“…The 4f 1 ground state yields two levels 2 F 5/2 and 2 F 7/2 due to the spin‐orbit coupling of 4f. The energy discrepancy between the two Gaussian emission bands, the first at 363 nm (27,397 cm ‐1 ) and the second at 395 nm (25,316 cm ‐1 ) is about 2081 cm −1 . The broad PL emission band is due to the lowest crystal field component of the 5d 1 configuration to the two distinct levels of ground state.…”

“…The direction-induced effect enhances with an increase in the polarity of the groups. [29][30][31][32] According to the above discussion, a possible mechanism for the formation of CaCO 3 crystals with different morphologies is the interaction between the semipermeable celloidin membrane and cooperative organic reagents.…”
