Low-Temperature and Ultrafast Synthesis of Patternable Few-Layer Transition Metal Dichacogenides with Controllable Stacking Alignment by a Microwave-Assisted Selenization Process

Abstract: To date, the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process is the most popular approach because of its high yield and quality. Nevertheless, the need for a high temperature and the relatively long process time within each cycle hinder the commercial development in terms of production cost. In this work, we demonstrate a fast (<3 min) and feasible approach to synthesizing a few-layers of WSe 2 and MoSe 2 on arbitrary substrates by a microwave-assisted selenization process. The transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) … Show more

“…Microwave‐assisted exfoliation is another promising alternative method to produce 2D layered materials because this method is simple, low‐cost, rapid and efficient. These advantages have attracted researchers to use this method to fabricate various TMDs and graphene . Recently, microwave irradiation of natural graphite suspended in a molecularly engineered ionic liquid demonstrated an ultrahigh‐efficient production (93% yield) of single‐layer graphene within a short processing time (only 30 min) .…”

“…Sensing behavior is the process of converting physical or chemical signals, including voice, temperature, pressure, humidity, length, and PH scales to recordable electronic signals. Among those sensors, photodetectors have a wide variety of applications in our daily life, including fiber-optic communications, remote sensing, and charge-couple device inside a camera . The main criteria of being a good photodetector include a high sensitivity at a designed operating wavelength with a high response speed, a large optical to electrical conversion efficiency, a large signal-to-noise ratio, a high reliability, and a low sensitivity to ambient conditions in performance .…”

“…Most of the methods are very complicated and need to be carried out at high temperatures. 15 The vertically aligned MoS 2 –MoSe 2 nanosheets were synthesized by Yang et al the liquid-phase sonication method. Yang prepared a few-layered MoS 2 from the exfoliation of bulk MoS 2 by sonication and the MoSe 2 was synthesized by solvothermal technique taking exfoliated MoS 2 as a template.…”
