“…Because of the highly inflammatory nature of canine babesiosis [ 2 , 3 ], increased concentrations of the pro-inflammatory cytokine IL-6 would be expected as has been described in humans and dogs with sepsis [ 34 , 35 ], as well as dogs with piroplasmoses [ 32 , 33 ].
