“…The model domain covers the whole of the Bay of Biscay, extending from the French and Spanish coasts (40.5°N) to the south of the United Kingdom (about 52.5°N) and to 13°W. The present model configuration of the whole of the Bay of Biscay is an extension of one limited to the south of the region developed by Ferrer et al (2009). The bathymetry was obtained by interpolation, following optimisation analysis, of the two-minute digital Elevation TOPOgraphic model (ETOPO2, Smith and Sandwell 1997), General Bathymetric Chart of the Oceans (GEBCO), and International Bathymetric Chart of the Mediterranean (IBCM) data sets.…”

“…As a consequence, the estuarine ecosystems will be subjected to more contrasting periods of lower river flow waters to higher hydrodynamic, turbid waters. If these expected rainfall regimes and temperature increases also take place in adjacent areas, nearby rivers such as the Adour (France), which can affect the Basque coastal waters during large fresh water discharges (Ferrer et al 2009, Petus et al 2010, could shift from a nival regime to a nival-pluvial regime.…”

In this present configuration, which is an extension of a configuration limited to the southern Bay of Biscay (Ferrer et al 2009), the bathymetry was obtained by interpolation following an optimization analysis of the ETOPO2 (2 minute digital Elevation TOPOgraphic model, Smith & Sandwell, 1997), GEBCO (General Bathymetric Chart of the Oceans), and IBCM (International Bathymetric Chart of the Mediterranean) data sets. Bottom depth was obtained from this bathymetry.…”
