Low-pressure Granulites of the Lišov Massif, Southern Bohemia: Viséan Metamorphism of Late Devonian Plutonic Arc Rocks

Abstract: The Lis ˇov Granulite Massif differs from neighbouring granulite bodies in the Moldanubian Zone of southern Bohemia (Czech Republic) in including a higher proportion of intermediate-mafic and orthopyroxene-bearing rocks, associated with spinel peridotites but lacking eclogites. In addition to dominantly felsic garnet granulites, other major rock types include quartz dioritic two-pyroxene granulites, tonalitic granulites and charnockites. Minor bodies of high-pressure layered gabbroic garnet granulites and spin… Show more

“…The apatite saturation temperatures obtained for the Grt-bearing hyperpotassic granulites (c. 1050 °C) are relatively constant and close to the previous peak tem- 'Brien and Rötzler 2003;Janoušek et al 2006b for reviews). On this basis they can be taken as reasonable estimates of the magma's liquidus temperature.…”

“…The regional differences in Rb/Sr ratios of this pre-Variscan protolith and consequently variable in situ growth of the radiogenic Sr with time could account for the dichotomy in the 87 Sr/ 86 Sr ratios. “…Numerous geochronological studies from the south Bohemian granulites indicate metamorphic ages of c. 340 Ma, along with a few exceptions of older ages (e.g. van Breemen et al 1982;Wendt et al 1994;Kröner et al 2000;Svojtka et al 2002;Janoušek et al 2006).…”
