“…It was shown in Na and Choi that DFT‐s‐FBMC leads to different PAPR values depending on the phase shift pattern ( normalΦm,n in equation ) and defining it as normalΦm,n=false(m+nfalse)π2mnπ is optimum in this regard. A GDFT‐based improvement of Na and Choi was recently achieved in Aboul‐Dahab et al, though at the cost of additional computational complexity. Nissel et al proposes to prune the spreading DFT, in a manner similar to zero‐tail DFT‐s‐OFDM, however with much less overhead.…”

“…The effect of the guard subcarriers can (if necessary) be replaced by a frequency CP . A reduction in PAPR compared to Na and Choi is achieved that is much more significant than what is attained by Na and Choi compared to DFT‐s‐FBMC with no consideration for phase shifts, especially when a frequency CP is employed. However, this pruned DFT‐s‐FBMC method requires the overlapping factor of the prototype filter to be close to 1, which prevents its application in transceivers with long filters (crucial for better spectral localization) such as the PHYDYAS one with K=4 considered here.…”

“…Remark 1: It is noted that Q 1 (a, b) is strictly increasing with a and strictly decreasing with b [37]. Therefore, for fixed α, G, M, T , and prototype filter g(t), (16) indicates that it is desirable to have a preamble sequence c with smaller ν in order to reduce the IAPR. As the PAPR is defined as the maximum of IAPRs over the time window W n , a smaller ν will also lead to a lower PAPR.…”

“…As shown in (16), the IAPR is also influenced by σ 2 , the variance of the data interference [see (11)]. The amount of σ 2 can be controlled by G, the number of zero guard symbols.…”
