“…HCC ranks the fourth in the frequency of cancer in men [ 3 ]. Patients diagnosed at the early stages of HCC can be successfully cured; however, there is deficiency of effective methods for patients diagnosed at the advanced stages [ 4 ]. Therefore, to reduce the economic and social burden, screening methods for detecting HCC at an earlier stage are highly demanded.…”

“…21,36 HEPATOCELLULAR CARCINOMA METASTASIS H EPATOCELLULAR CARCINOMA IS deemed the fifth most common tumor and the third leading cause for cancer-related death worldwide. 37,38 It is estimated that the annual number of newly diagnosed HCC is 21 000, accounting for approximately 700 000 deaths every year. 39 The properties of easy invasion and metastasis of HCC not only yield the important pathological factors of high recurrence rate and poor long-term outcome, but also the important pathological basis for developing individualized regimens of controlling metastasis and recurrence.…”

“…Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the third cancer‐related death in the world . Despite the improvement of diagnostic approaches and treatment strategies, the 5‐year survival rate of HCC is still poor . Losing the best operation opportunity, high frequency of disease metastasis and recurrence are the reasons for the poor prognosis for majority of HCC patients .…”

[16][17][18] Losing the best operation opportunity, high frequency of disease metastasis and recurrence are the reasons for the poor prognosis for majority of HCC patients. [19][20][21][22] As a result, it is imperative to search more efficient biomarkers to improve early diagnosis of HCC.…”
