Low-energy probes of sterile neutrino transition magnetic moments

O. G. Miranda,
D. K. Papoulias,
O. Sanders
et al.

Abstract: Sterile neutrinos with keV-MeV masses and non-zero transition magnetic moments can be probed through low-energy nuclear or electron recoil measurements. Here we determine the sensitivities of current and future searches, showing how they can probe a previously unexplored parameter region. Future coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering (CEνNS) or elastic neutrino-electron scattering (EνES) experiments using a monochromatic 51 Cr source can fully probe the region indicated by the recent XENON1T excess.

“…Since the COHERENT collaboration announced the first measurement of CEνNS with their CENNS-10 detector, several studies have been performed in order to extract information from this measurement, like the value of the weak mixing angle, limits for some BSM scenarios such as new light vector and scalar mediators, sterile neutrino transition magnetic moments, or even WIMP discovery limits, just to mention a few [28,39,[52][53][54][55][56]. This can be achieved by means of a χ 2 analysis of the experimental data provided by the COHERENT collaboration.…”
