Low-dose Dexamethasone in the Prevention of Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting After Total Joint Arthroplasty: a Retrospective Study

Abstract: Background To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of prophylactic low-dose dexamethasone for postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) after total joint arthroplasty. Methods a total of 100 patients who underwent primary total knee or hip arthroplasty were enrolled. Patients were divided into placebo group (received 1 ml normal saline), and Dexa group (received 5 mg dexamethasone).
