Low-cost conversion of a coaxial nozzle arrangement into a stationary low-temperature attachment

Abstract: A stationary nozzle accessory designed for the Siemens/Nicolet LTII low-temperature device with standard q~-coaxial nozzle arrangement is described. The attachment is easy to assemble and its compatibility allows interchanging between both systems in less than l h, if required. Implementation of the stationary nozzle reduces the consumption of liquid nitrogen by more than 40% and extends the temperature range available for data collection by 60 K in the lower temperature range. Details of construction are pres… Show more

“…The cadmium complexes 2 were obtained as yellow microcrystals, the manganese complexes 3 as orange ones. The 1 H and 13 C NMR spectra of the diamagnetic cadmium compounds 2 (S 4 symmetry, e.g., 2c: nine 1 H and twenty 13 C NMR signals) [12] indicate that in each case four ligands in these complexes are identical and the two halves of each ligand have to be in HOPr with four coordinated propanol molecules ( Figure 1). Each of the eight manganese ions form the corners of one of two squares of different sizes, but with the same centre.…”

“…Recent developments in low temperature diffraction and crystallisation techniques make X-ray crystallography the most powerful instrument for the structure determination of organolithiums. [17] We took advantage of this and started our investigations on the elucidation of the solid-state structures of mono-and dilithiated sulfoximines in combination with quantum chemical calculations, which have been shown to be the method of choice for the determination of the gas phase structures of lithiumorganic compounds. [18] 2.…”
