Low complexity PAPR reduction in OFDM using both selective mapping and clipping methods

Abstract: Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is a digital transmission method developed to meet the increasing demand for higher data rates in communications which can be used in both wired and wireless environments this paper presents a hybrid Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR) reduction technique, which combines a selective mapping method with the clipping method. Clipping is one of the simplest PAPR reduction techniques, but this introduces Distortion to the transmitted signal .Selective Mapping (SLM) … Show more

“…So, synchronization is the important factor to be considered while designing. This chapter addresses the concept of synchronization algorithm and its errors in OFDM system [4][5]. The undesirable changes in the OFDM transmission through the channel, if any, will be identified at the receiver end and they have to be rectified.…”

“…To solve this problem, PA linearisation techniques aiming at extending the PA linear range and the PAPR reduction such as clipping, Selective Mapping [5] and Crest Factor Redcution (CFR) [6] have been investigated in previous years respectively. The PA linearisation methods includes predistortion methods and PA improvement methods [7–9].…”
