Abstract:We demonstrate that a simple model based on Fisher-Kolmogorov-Petrovski-Piskunov (FKPP) equation forced by realistic surface velocities and nutrients is skilled in reproducing the distributions of the surface phytoplankton chlorophyll in the tropical Pacific.
