Low complexity interference reduction for MIMO enabled CDMA mobile receivers

Abstract

In this paper a low complexity method is proposed for interference cancellation at the User Equipment (UE) receiver in High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) systems. The method is based on a recursive walkthrough of the Orthogonal Variable Spreading Factor (OVSF) code space. The interfering spreading codes are identified in the receiver correlator based on the signal energy level at the correlator output. The identified codes are used to reconstruct the interfering signals which are then subtracted from the received burst, thus reducing the interference level.
