“…The native dioscorin showed less anti-DPP IV activity compared to the 3 kD < peptide < 10 kD and less than 3 kD of dioscorin peptic hydrolysates. The results of DPP IV activity of the native and digested dioscorin is in agreement with the general observation that short-chain biologically active peptides can be released and absorbed in the small intestine after oral administration (Phelan et al [2009]) which may correlate with the improved OGTT. The sitagliptin phosphate, DPP IV inhibitor approved by US FDA in 2006, can prolong GLP-1 biological activities to stimulate glucose-dependent insulin secretions and for type 2 DM treatment in vivo (Idris and Donnelly [2007]; Drucker et al [2007]).…”

“…In contrast, the α-helix content of glycinin decreased, whereas the β-sheet content gradually increased. Succinylation lead to the destruction of the secondary structures of the proteins, such as β-lactoglobulin and soy protein hydrolysates ( 42 ). However, it was reported that succinylation made little impact on the secondary structures of bovine serum protein and lysozyme ( 43 ).…”

“…7 The surface pressure of low-extent succinylated BLG was higher than that of native BLG, but higher levels of succinylation reduced the surface pressure. These modifications resulted in decreased hydrophobicity and increased content of beta sheet structures and random coils.…”
