mortality and relapse rates in metastatic melanoma (0% vs 50% and 13% vs 32.1% respectively). CONCLUSIONS: Our data suggests that γδ T cells may play a pivotal role in the antitumoral response against melanoma, which significantly decreases in the advanced disease. They display a strong in vitro cytotoxicity and should be regarded as prominent target cells for enhancing antitumor response in advanced melanoma. Their striking in vitro response to stimulation with zoledronate may prompt further in vivo investigation and innovative immunotherapeutic approaches.
