Amidst the swift march of modern industry, the escalating environmental devastation has imperiled human existence, spurring the emergence of green design as a pervasive and powerful global design philosophy. Within this context, Lushan Yunwu Tea, the sole tea hailing from China's Lushan region, stands as a prime example necessitating thoughtful packaging. Sadly, the packaging design of Lushan Yunwu Tea has languished, failing to reflect its essence. Characterized by excess, insubstantiality, and superficiality, the packaging inadequacies echo the struggle against counterfeit teas due to Lushan Yunwu Tea's fragmented production landscape. Dominated by small-scale vendors, scattered farmers, and modest workshops, cost constraints perpetuate lackluster packaging. To invigorate Lushan Yunwu Tea's branding, a strategic shift towards moderation, eco-friendly materials, and innovative design techniques is imperative. Aiming for recyclable, reusable, high-quality packaging while infusing cultural and historical narratives into the design would not only elevate its image but also amplify its role as a carrier of Chinese, revolutionary, and Jiangxi cultures. Holistically, the pursuit of green packaging aligns with sustainable values, harmonizing nature and heritage in a symbiotic design embodiment.

Light Intensity Regulates Low-Temperature Adaptability of Tea Plant through ROS Stress and Developmental Programs

Low-temperature stress limits global tea planting areas and production efficiency. Light is another essential ecological factor that acts in conjunction with temperature in the plant life cycle. However, it is unclear whether the differential light environment affects the low temperature adaptability of tea plant (Camellia sect. Thea). In this study, tea plant materials in three groups of light intensity treatments showed differentiated characteristics for low-temperature adaptability. Strong light (ST, 240 μmol·m−2·s−1) caused the degradation of chlorophyll and a decrease in peroxidase (POD), superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), ascorbate peroxidase (APX), and polyphenol oxidase (PPO) activities, as well as an increase in soluble sugar, soluble protein, malondialdehyde (MDA), and relative conductivity in tea leaves. In contrast, antioxidant enzyme activities, chlorophyll content, and relative conductivity were highest in weak light (WT, 15 μmol·m−2·s−1). Damage was observed in both ST and WT materials relative to moderate light intensity (MT, 160 μmol·m−2·s−1) in a frost resistance test. Chlorophyll degradation in strong light was a behavior that prevented photodamage, and the maximum photosynthetic quantum yield of PS II (Fv/Fm) decreased with increasing light intensity. This suggests that the browning that occurs on the leaf surface of ST materials through frost may have been stressed by the previous increase in reactive oxygen species (ROS). Frost intolerance of WT materials is mainly related to delayed tissue development and tenderness holding. Interestingly, transcriptome sequencing revealed that stronger light favors starch biosynthesis, while cellulose biosynthesis is enhanced in weaker light. It showed that light intensity mediated the form of carbon fixation in tea plant, and this was associated with low-temperature adaptability.

As an innovative tactic, the core aspects of green products should be comprehensively demonstrated and firmly promoted to enhance their adoption. For doing so, continuous governmental support and interventions through distinct sets of networking and relationships could be crucial for synthesizing and diffusing the extent of green production demonstration households. Interestingly, the structural relationship between these two has not yet been evaluated comprehensively by the existing literature. Therefore, the study empirically analyzes the impact and mechanism of government relationships embedded in fostering green production demonstration households. The study compiles the empirical data from 963 farmers which were collected from the major tea-producing areas of Shaanxi, Sichuan, and Anhui provinces, China. In order to craft the findings, first we constructed the ordered Probit for benchmark regression analysis. Meanwhile, the Ordinary Standard Error Ordered Probit model, Ordered Logit model, and multivariate linear model were constructed for the robustness test. Third, the Extended Ordered Probit model and Bootstrap mediation effect model were used to test the path diagram. Finally, robustness testing and endogeneity processing test were used to explore the reliability of the findings. The results showed that: (i) Government relationship embedding has a positive effect on fostering green production demonstration households. In particular, factors such as relationships with general government staff, professional and technical personnel, and village cadre are most significant. (ii) Seemingly, the heterogeneity analysis shows that the farmers with large operating scales and low family economic status have a relatively stronger impact. (iii) Further mechanism research results show that government relations are embedded through government identification (policy identification, government trust), improving farmers’ behavioral ability (production knowledge reserve, self-efficacy), and strengthening farmers’ perceived value of green production (self-interest perception, altruistic values). Therefore, the government should strengthen the interactive mechanism embedded with farm households and extend support for green production demonstration zones. The farmers’ information-sharing facilities and platforms should be modernized and highlighted according to the local conditions and long-term targeted strategies.
