Looking at the proteases from a simple perspective

Abstract: Proteases have received enormous interest from the research and medical communities because of their significant roles in several human diseases. Some examples include the involvement of thrombin in thrombosis, HIV-1 protease in Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome, cruzain in Trypanosoma cruzi infection, and membrane-type 1 matrix metalloproteinase in tumor invasion and metastasis. Many efforts has been undertaken to design effective inhibitors featuring potent inhibitory activity, specificity, and metabolic s… Show more

“…While tannic acid removes adhesiveness through precipitating co mplexation process of phenol groups with the glycoproteins and mucopolysaccharides responsible for sticky feature (Mansour, Lahnsteiner, & Pat zner, 2009) of egg, enzy mes are most likely acting by breaking down peptide groups of the glycoproteins and mucopolysaccharides by hydrolysis (Castro et al, 2011;Li, Yi, Marek, & Iverson, 2013;Tavano, 2013). The use of enzymes in eliminating egg adhesiveness is mainly focused on shortening the time required for the procedure.…”

“…As proteases são importantes, pois atuam no metabolismo e na regulação metabólica, podendo ser encontradas em diferentes organismos, e seu mecanismo envolve a capacidade de hidrolisar ligações peptídicas (Castro et al, 2011). Entre as proteases, destacam-se as com potencial fibrinolítico, que são enzimas com capacidade de degradar a fibrina, proteína de maior componente dos coágulos sanguíneos.…”

“…These enzymes are current targets for the antivirals clinically in use, whereas molecular recognition receptors on host CD4 cells (glycoprotein gp120, gp41 linked glycoprotein) are being explored for their potential (Debnath, 2005;Teixeira et al, 2011;Castro et al, 2011;Blanco et al, 2011;Pendri et al, 2011).…”
