Abstract:A thermodynamical bag model is used to calculate the nucleon structure function by treating the quarks and gluons as Fermi and Bose gases. In this article this model is used to calculate the longitudinal structure function which is related to the ratio of absorption cross section for longitudinally and transversely polarized virtual photons. This can then be compared with the corresponding experimental values and other models. It is found to agree well with experimental data.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
