“…Some literatures reported that more than 25% of patients diagnosed colon cancer has been spread to liver, about 25% in all patients with colorectal cancer occurred natural course of liver metastasis, and the prognosis of patients were obvious variation (Bruix et al, 2001). Other studies have also reported that the survival time of patients with colorectal liver metastasis was 23-71% in five years (Babawale et al, 2015). Main methods for treating colorectal liver metastasis including surgery, systemic chemotherapy and Transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) and radiofrequency ablation (RFA), percutaneous ethanol injection, percutaneous iodine particles implantation, etc.…”

“…39 Percutaneous MWA is usually performed under ultrasound or CT guidance. 40 In comparison to other ablative techniques such as RFA, MWA produces consistently higher intertumoural temperatures, larger tumour ablation volumes, faster ablation times and less procedural pain. 39 Moreover, the heat sink effect of MWA is minimal and usually does not create ablation zone distortions in the vicinity of large blood vessels (Figure 1).…”

“…Babawale et al reported 29% overall survival at 5 years after RFA for colorectal liver metastasis, which is comparable to our result of 27.6% overall survival at 5 years. 15 Sorensen et al and Solbiate et al, however, reported higher a 5 year overall survival of 44% and 47.8%, respectively. 13,15,25 In an European study of 426 patients who underwent RFA for HCC, Santambrogio et al reported 34% overall survival at 5 years.…”
