Long term safety of fluoroscopically guided selective salpingography and tubal catheterization

Abstract: The long term risks of selective salpingography and tubal catheterization under fluoroscopic guidance are low.

“…This may be attributed to the higher intensifier input dose rate of the fluoroscopic unit used in the study by Gregan et al [10] compared with the input dose rate of the fluoroscopic unit used in the present study. Papaioannou et al [11] used an indirect method to retrospectively estimate the mean radiogenic excess lifetime risks of cancer and hereditary disorders associated with HSG procedures. Reported risks were up to 13 per million and 6 per million procedures for fatal cancer induction and hereditary disorder, respectively.…”
