Long-term results for basilic vein superficialization or transposition for hemodialysis access

Abstract: Objectives: This study presents our long-term follow-up results of patients undergoing basilic vein superficialization and basilic vein transposition. Patients and methods: Medical records of a total of 71 patients (32 males, 39 females; mean age 56.7 years, range, 31 to 76 years) undergoing brachiobasilic arteriovenous fistula surgery for hemodialysis access between January 2010 and March 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were divided into two groups according to the type of access procedure as… Show more

“…Ergene et al (2020), presented in their study that 63.6% of the stenoses found occurred in the basilic vein superficialization technique. [4] Conclusion: Brachiobasilic arteriovenous fistulas with basilic vein superficialization have a higher incidence of hemodynamically significant stenoses when compared to other surgical modalities. Keywords: Arteriovenous Fistula; Renal Failure; Vascular Surgical Procedures.…”

“…Ergene et al (2020), apresentou em seu estudo que 63,6% das estenoses encontradas ocorreram na técnica de superficialização da veia basílica. [4] Conclusão: As fístulas arteriovenosas braquiobasílicas com superficialização da veia basílica apresentam maior incidência de estenoses hemodinamicamente significativas quando comparadas a outras modalidades cirúrgicas.…”
