Long-Term Prognosis of Henoch-Schönlein Nephritis in Children

Abstract: METHODS: Twenty-seven children known to have GSD were included in this study. Fifteen healthy age-and gender-matched children were also included as controls. Routine urine analysis and measurement of urinary ␤ 2 -microglobulin and microalbumin levels were performed for all patients and controls. Renal-function tests, measurement of serum electrolyte, alkaline phosphatase, urinary calcium, blood, and urine pH levels, creation of a urinary and plasma aminogram, calculation of the glomerular filtration rate, bone… Show more

“…5,6 While the most common acute complications of the disease are related to the GI system, nephritis (IgAVN) is the most important chronic complication of IgAV and thus the main prognostic factor. [7][8][9][10] Therefore, we conducted a multicentre retrospective study to analyse clinical and biochemical parameters in patients with IgAV in order to better describe the distinctive nature of patients with GI manifestations, to try to identify risk factors for severe GI manifestations in IgAV and to determine risk factors for IgAVN in a group of patients with GI manifestations.…”
