Long‐term impact of the low‐FODMAP diet on gastrointestinal symptoms, dietary intake, patient acceptability, and healthcare utilization in irritable bowel syndrome

Abstract: Low-FODMAP education is effective for long-term IBS management, enables a nutritionally adequate diet, and is broadly acceptable to patients.

“…First of all, low FODMAP diet could be considered restrictive, could lead to significant difficulties in social relationships, and may be nutritionally inadequate, particularly for what concerns fibers and B vitamins intake [41], although recent studies demonstrated the long-term efficacy and nutritional safety of the low FODMAP diet [42, 43].
