One promising strategy to prevent sexual violence (SV) is to involve youth as leaders in developing prevention initiatives. Few peer-led prevention initiatives have been evaluated; thus, it is particularly important to examine the implementation of such programs in process evaluations. This article describes a process evaluation of a youth-led, community-based SV prevention initiative. Our aims were to (a) track the number and timing of prevention initiative events, (b) assess perceptions of the initiative among youth in the community, (c) evaluate perceived benefits and drawbacks of the initiative among youth who attended events, and (d) explore perceptions of the initiative’s impact among highly involved youth. We used data from multiple sources (i.e., implementation tracking, surveys with youth, semi-structured interviews) and from multiple types of youth (i.e., youth in the general population, youth who attended programming events, and youth who were highly involved, such as completing an internship). The program was highly acceptable to youth. They reported gaining both SV prevention skills (e.g., bystander skills) and more general skills (e.g., leadership, communication) through involvement with the initiative. We identified several key features that contributed to the success of events, such as a supportive and non-judgmental environment, content that felt useful to youth, and time for interaction with peers. However, some challenges such as negative peer behavior at events emerged as potential pitfalls of the initiative. These insights can be used by researchers and practitioners to further develop and refine peer-led prevention initiatives.

Postsecondary curriculum is designed to prepare students for their careers following graduation, which traditionally revolves around technical aspects of their respected career field. Capstone courses were introduced to help ease students’ transition from the university into their careers. However, little research containing empirical evidence exists on the effectiveness of capstone courses in natural resources. This study evaluated 6 yr of course graduates from an interdisciplinary problem‐solving capstone course in natural resources, seeking to understand the skills gained and what portions of the course were most useful in transitioning students to their future careers. Results show the course was able to enhance students’ writing, communication, job preparation, and teamwork skills. Students valued knowledge gained on soft skills, such as communication and teamwork, over technical skills specific to their major. Overall, the students valued the interdisciplinary problem solving nature of the course, as most natural resource issues are interdisciplinary. Areas that could be improved in this capstone model were focused on improving individual student's verbal communication and presentation skills. Information from this study is useful to colleges and universities considering and using capstone courses to determine skills that can be taught and to determine if using real world problems in an interdisciplinary setting in their courses would be beneficial.

A Semana Acadêmica SIGICar - Semana Acadêmica de Integração, Gestão e Insights de Carreira é uma ação de extensão desenvolvida por professores e outros atores da UFRRJ, campus Seropédica / RJ, Brasil. A SIGICar foi proposta como um espaço de diálogo e compartilhamento de experiências entre os diversos profissionais da UFRRJ e do mercado de trabalho, pautado pela liberdade de expressão, para desenvolver o senso crítico e proporcionar uma formação responsável no aluno de Administração e, por extensão, em todos os alunos convidados do Instituto de Ciências Sociais Aplicadas – ICSA / UFRRJ. Uma survey foi respondida por 168 participantes (n = 168), entre alunos de Administração da instituição, entre participantes (n =71) e futuros participantes (n = 97) do evento. A questão de pesquisa do trabalho foi: - Quais formatos, temas e ideários de carreira poderiam ser oferecidos a estudantes de IES, no curso de Administração, para que o seu envolvimento seja mais participativo e essa ação de extensão consiga promover uma contribuição na formação profissional e pessoal dos alunos? As novas edições da SIGICar deverão apresentar maior número de profissionais de mercado entre os palestrantes, novas atividades propostas com material instrucional prévio distribuído, atividades em horários vespertinos e noturnos, separados por ciclo profissional. E abordar principalmente os seguintes temas: gestão de carreiras e mercado e trabalho, liderança e processos de orientação profissional, e gestão de pessoas e de pequenas empresas.
