In recent years, long-range wide-area networks (LoRaWAN) have gained much attention as low-power wide-area networks. LoRaWAN uses ALOHA as the medium access control protocol, where the end devices transmit data randomly and retransmit it up to eight times if collisions occur. ALOHA is not energy efficient and works perfectly for a smaller network. Several techniques, including the use of synchronization and scheduling schemes, to deal with the limitations imposed by ALOHA in LoRaWAN have been reported in the literature. However, the existing synchronization and scheduling algorithms transmit synchronization messages randomly using one super frame with fixed time slots that accommodate devices using different spreading factors, which limit the LoRaWAN network's scalability. This work proposes a slotted synchronization mechanism for transmitting synchronization requests to the gateway. The performance of the slotted synchronization was evaluated through simulation using packet delivery ratio (PDR) and energy efficiency as the performance parameters. The results indicate that when the number of devices in the network increases, a time-slotted synchronization consumes less energy, on average, by about 0.2 mAh. The use of a slotted synchronization can improve the energy efficiency of the end devices as collisions are completely avoided, achieving a PDR of 100%.

Discriminative feature embedding is used for largescale facial recognition. Many image-based facial recognition networks use CNNs like ResNets and VGG-nets. Humans prioritise different elements, but CNNs treat all facial pictures equally. NLP and computer vision use attention to learn the most important part of an input signal. The inter-channel and inter-spatial attention mechanism is used to assess face image component significance in this study. Channel scalars are calculated using Global Average Pooling in face recognition channel attention. A recent study found that GAP encodes low-frequency channel information first. We compressed channels using discrete cosine transform (DCT) instead of scalar representation to evaluate information at frequencies other than the lowest frequency for the channel attention mechanism. Later layers can acquire the feature map after spatial attention. Channel and spatial attention increase CNN facial recognition feature extraction. Channel-only, spatial-only, parallel, sequential, or channel-after-spatial attention blocks exist. Current face recognition attention approaches may be outperformed on public datasets (Labelled Faces in the Wild).

Adoption of the internet of things (IoT) is moving forward quickly because of the developments in communication protocols and technology involving sensors. The IoT is promoting real-time agricultural field monitoring from any distant place. For the IoT to be implemented effectively there are a number of agricultural issues related to less power usage and long-distance transfer of data are to be addressed. By using LoRa, which is a wireless communication system for IoT applications, these difficulties can be avoided when sending information from fields of crops to a web server. Acustomized sensor node and LoRa are used in this work to transmit continuously updated information to a remote server. Monitoring the quality of water, and reducing wasteful use of water are the main goals.
