Long non-coding RNA Opa interacting protein 5-antisense RNA 1 binds to micorRNA-34a to upregulate oncogenic PD-L1 in non-small cell lung cancer

Abstract: Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) OPA-interacting protein 5 antisense transcript 1 (OIP5-AS1) plays an oncogenic role in several types of cancer, but whether it is involved in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is unclear. Our preliminary sequencing analysis revealed the upregulation of OIP5-AS1 in NSCLC. In this study, gene expression levels were analyzed by RT-qPCR. RNA-RNA pull-down assay was applied to detect direct interactions between RNAs. Overexpression assays were performed to explore the relationship betw… Show more

“…In co-culture with lung cancer A549 cells, CAFs transfer programmed death ligand (PD-L)1 via exosomes to the cancer cells and decrease the apoptotic effects of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) [ 273 ]. CAF exosomes also contain high levels of Opa-interacting protein 5 antisense RNA (OIP5-AS)1, which significantly downregulates miR-142-5p [ 273 ] and miR-34a [ 274 ] by acting as a sponge, thereby upregulating PD-L1, suppressing PBMS killing activity and promoting tumor progression.…”

“…Lung cancer is the most common cancer with high morbidity and mortality, [1][2][3][4] and it is classified as small-cell lung cancer and nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) according to histopathology. [5] It is estimated that there are 2.2 million new cases and 1.79 million deaths of lung cancer each year. [6,7] NSCLC accounts for approximately 85% of lung cancer, [8][9][10] which has the second highest incidence rate and a 5-year survival rate is less than 15%.…”

“…OIP5-AS1 inhibited miR-92a and increased cell growth and metastasis via upregulation of ITGA6 in ovarian cancer ( 19 ). OIP5-AS1 interacted with miR-34a and increased the PD-L1 expression in NSCLC cells ( 20 ). Depletion of OIP5-AS1 retarded cell growth, migration and stimulated apoptosis via targeting miR-129-5p and SOX2 in breast cancer ( 21 ).…”
