Abstract:The vertebrate immune system is capable of strong, focused adaptive responses that depend on T-cell specificity in recognizing antigenic sequences of a pathogen. Recognition tolerance and antigenic convergence cause cross-immune reactions that extend prompt, specific responses to rather similar pathogens.
