Logical and Experimental Design for Phenol Degradation Using Immobilized Acinetobacter Sp. Culture

Abstract: Phenol degradation processes were conducted through a series of enzymatic reactions effects and is affect by different components of the microbial metabolic flux. Using different optimization strategies like mutagenesis could lead to a successful optimization but also lead to lost of some important microbial features or to release a new virulence or unexpected characters. Plackett-Burman closes much gab between optimization, safety, time, cost, Man/hr, the complexity of the metabolic flux etc. Using Plackett-B… Show more

“…The PHB produced from the different experiments were analyzed by multiple regression analysis. The created model was generated using the coefficient of each variable as described in detailed by Amara and Salem [18]. The various interactions between responses have represented in the surface plots.…”

“…The Langmuir isotherm is explained assuming that adsorption is occurring uniformly on the surface. The simplified form of the model is represented as [24] = + 1 (2) and the adsorption capacity (mg/g) and solute concentration (mg/L) at equilibrium respectively, the model constant (L/mg) and…”

“…The usage of phenol and phenolic compounds are of great importance in different chemical process industries [1]. They generally exists in wastewater released from industries like petroleum refining, distillery, coal gasification, pulp and paper and coke oven industries [2], [3]. Therefore, from the wastewater, phenol enters the aquatic bodies and the water sources in the environment.…”

“…There are several methods for the optimization and modeling available from the ancient elementary model like one factorial at a time (OFAT) to composite and nexus statistical designs like Plackett-Burman design (PBD), Box-Behnken design (BB), and Central Composite Design (CCD) ( Amara and Salem, 2010 ; Silveira et al., 2015 ). The OFAT was the most used in the ancient days to optimize the factors.…”
