Log-domain SIMO and MISO low-voltage universal biquads

Abstract: A family of single input multiple output (SIMO) and multiple input single output (MISO) biquads introduced in this paper. Attractive features offered by the novel topologies are the realization of the five standard filter functions, the capability of electronic tuning of both the resonance frequency and Q factor without disturbing each other, their wide range of frequency tuning, and their potential for low-voltage operation. The performance of the proposed topologies has been evaluated through simulation resu… Show more

“…The topology of a current‐mode lossless integrator based on the concept of log‐domain filtering is demonstrated in Figure a . The input–output relationship that describes the operation of the nonlinear transconductor cells denoted as E+ and E− is italiciitalicOUT=italicIitalicBIASitalicetrueυ^IN+trueυ^INitalicnVT and the E− cell provides an output current with a direction opposite that of the E+ cell.…”

“…All the aforementioned characteristics make the companding filters compatible with the modern trend for realizing resistorless low‐voltage tunable filters. With the added demand for analog ultra‐low‐power systems, log‐domain and sinh‐domain filters are two subcategories of companding filters that could be realized using MOS transistors biased in the weak inversion, and therefore, they could fulfill the aforementioned requirement .…”
