Location and Multiplant Firms

Abstract: This entry discusses research on the location choices of multiplant firms within the economic geography tradition. From the theoretical point of view, most research builds on spatial competition models, while new economic geography models focusing on multiplant location choices are rare. Empirical studies are scarce; most use a case study approach, with their main focus on the birth, growth, performance, and exit of multiplant firms.
