Localized Dystrophic Periocular Calcification: A Complication of Intralesional Corticosteroid Therapy for Infantile Periocular Hemangiomas

Abstract: Two female infants with eyelid hemangiomas developed prickly, rock-hard, subcutaneous crystals following intralesional corticosteroid injections. In each case, the crystals were isocentered on the injection locus and partly eroded the skin, causing local discomfort and inflammation. This complication occurred after two treatment sessions and presented 8 to 9 months after the second injection.
