Abstract: Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis is a pathogen which causes a debilitating chronic enteritis in ruminants. Unfortunately, the mechanisms that control M. avium subsp. paratuberculosis persistence during infection are poorly understood and the key steps for developing Johne's disease remain elusive.
